BEHIND THE SCENES ON INSTAGRAM
Do you follow me on Instagram? Thank you! I hope you are enjoying my posts and my stories as I move along on my art journey.
Some of the best parts of Instagram are posting my in-progress shots of my paintings, pictures of my daughter, rants about my self actualization through mindful techniques like astrology, magic rituals, and yoga. I also love posting ridiculous collages and randomly going Insta-Live during Art Receptions all over DC. It's pretty fun to be on there and way better than FB, which has gotten really intense lately with the overshare of videos and political comments. I just can't take it! I prefer fun and if you are following me, well, you do too. Life shouldn't be so serious. GOOD GRIEF!
My Top Fave Things About Instagram
Instagram is an outlet for me to discuss the thoughts that I am working through that pertain to my self-actualization as a human (woman/mom), but it's also a way for me to connect with those around me on the same path without having to constantly be out and about. As you all know, I am a Mom first. Journaling is like breathing and connecting with those around me is like that too. And guess what, behind all the paint, there is an authentic human working to be the best I am all the time.
2. Sneak Peak Behind the Scenes
I love taking creative shots of my artwork and showing my process. I also love insta-live; Insta-Stories while inside my studio. So if you see my profile icon highlighted, there is a story there just for you! And feel free to drop a line. It's so fun for me to tune into the internet dimension and show you guys the weirdness that happens while Cayce and I are inside the studio. It's another thing though to be there and please, feel free to stop by and create with me every other Wednesday!
3. Posting In Progress Shots
Experimenting is my favorite part about art. It's like going on an adventure while staying put in one place. I also love seeing how certain colors and dialogues interact with the outside world. A woman told me one time that colorful abstract represent extroverted magic, which I found amusing since so many abstract/conceptual artists I know are very introverted. The colors stand for something to us. For me especially, they stand for the magic I am igniting inside them and I love ranting about that magic on Instagram.
4. Posting Pics of My Little Mermaid
Cayce is the main inspiration behind all my work. My daughter always does the first layer of my paintings (for now until she has her own thing or maybe forever if she wants!) I find it to be a great way to let her release her sacral magic and I also find it to be great way for us to develop a relationship of trust, faith, and pixie dust. Motherhood can be very stressful if it is serious all the time. After all, I want my little one to understand that I am her guide, not her ruler. Painting with her really has been a great tactic for this mindfulness and our relationship expands exponentially.
5. Interacting with My Followers
Whenever I post, I make sure to comment on each and every person's comments. It might take a lot of my time, but I like to interact with everyone. It might be the internet, but I am on there to be authentic. Not be some robot artist that markets my paintings and forgets who you are. After all, that is what painting is about. To express my journey and connect with you.
If you are not following my on instagram! I hope you feel intrigued to follow me now!! It's basically a giant art party of fun and love and magic.
