Historically, creativity has been associated with people in artistic professions such as writers, painters, or musicians. In today’s professional environment, the need for creativity has transitioned into the business world. It has become increasingly important for organizations to rely on creative thinking, in an effort to distinguish themselves from competitors.
Now, in modern day, the business world recognizes creativity to be an essential skill for growing and escalating the world’s global standards.
As creatives, we live a lifestyle every day that answers the question, “How Important is Creativity as a Leadership Skill?” And even more so, as Creative Leaders or Entrepreneurs, we set an example for others by showing that creativity dominates innovation and is one of the most important skills to have as a leader.
So, why does Creativity distinguish some Leaders from the rest?
1. Creatives are insightful and imaginative. If you have distinguished yourself as a creative, you have applied unique methods to your day to day interactions with our friends, family, and colleagues. You have put a great emphasis on the need to innovate and inspire others to do the same. And what you might have found is that once you grasp a hold of your imagination, you can ensure greater productivity as well as foster a highly innovative work environment. Original ideas will come streaming through your soul and it will provide a consistent stream of inspiration as well as meaningful insight for any problem.
2. Creatives are Self-Aware. As a creative, you will find that you spend a great deal of time reflecting or focused on your thoughts. This behavior is connected to the invaluable characteristic to be fearless and accept failure as a lesson. The love of innovation, also, brings a love for healing and revolutionizing your own short comings, so that you may succeed in learning, growing, and exemplifying better behavior for others, who might be inspired by you.
3. Creatives are Passionate and Expressive. With passion comes vision. With vision comes belief. And with belief comes loyalty and expression. When you believe in an idea, you will encourage those around you by expressing your beliefs through your thoughts. You will inspire those around you to also take on challenging tasks as well as help build morale around the hard stuff that comes with innovation. Passion also brings on collaboration and honesty. It is what lights up an environment to be exciting and revolutionizing. It is why so many have looked to artists for answers in the past because the passion and expression engages those around us to make our ideas come to life.
4. Creatives are an Inspiration. Creativity is the most sought after trait in leaders today. It is essential in the business world and in our life. It is essential because it inspires people to generate and develop creative ideas. It also inspires us to become self-aware, which is healing and satisfying. It builds our world up and sets an example for living a full life.
So, that is why I think more and more, we are building creative leaders and being a creative leader is so important for building our world. What do you think? #thinkingthursdays
